Building a New Home - At the Design Center
After 23 years in our home, we decided it no longer was meeting our current needs. By chance I found a neighborhood that was right for us. We found a lot we liked, picked one of the builders floor plans that met our needs and signed a contract to purchase.
When you stop in a model home, remember the friendly salesperson represents the builder and not you. Be sure you have a REALTOR to represent you.
Our next stop was the design center where we mad all kinds of selections for the interior features of the house. A designer was on hand to help guide us through the choices but we also brought our daughter who had been an interior decorator.
There were standard selections and upgrades to several levels. Decisions were made regarding paint color, cabinetry, backsplash, countertops, flooring, lighting, appliances and many extras such as additional shelving, lighting, fans and more.
It took about 3 hours and was followed by doubts as to whether the right choices were made. I'm sure it will be lovely and finished photos will be included at the end. Look for follow up blogs at the building begins.
